Swimming hole
Mount Hope Park, located in Oneida, NY, is a 65 acre park with many activities and a swimming hole. The area was once part of the reservoir, but it was converted into a city park in 2001. Besides a great swimming hole, the park also offers hiking, cross country skiing, fishing, and camping.
There are several swimming holes to choose from. Some of them are unique in their own right, such as Peekamoose, which has deep blue water. However, the best swimming hole is probably the Catskill Mountains.
The Blue Hole Swimming Area is a state natural area with a small swimming hole and a rope swing. The swimming hole is 12-14 feet deep. The best part is that the area is free of charge. The other notable feature is the tree with climbing boards.

Historic significance
The historic significance of Mount Hope Park in Oneida, NY dates back to the earliest days of colonial America. As early as 1710, mining took place at Mount Hope. Today, the site is a certified wildlife refuge.
Aside from the history of Mount Hope, the park is also a popular destination for people who like to enjoy outdoor activities. The site offers trails that are perfect for hiking or mountain biking. The park also contains the remains of the 20th-century iron mining industry. During this time, the park served the community of miners’ families.
